According to a rumor that found its way to the Grant County Beat, on Tuesday, July 28, that Freeport McMoRan was moving all the graves in the Savannah Cemetery on its property to the Cliff Cemetery for unknown reasons.
Eric Kinneberg, Freeport’s Director of External Communications, told the Beat that “Freeport has no current plans to relocate any graves.” When asked if Freeport has had any requests to relocate any graves now or in the future, Kinneberg responded, “All I can say is that Freeport has no current plans to relocate any graves.”
