In partnership with Road Runner Food Bank of Albuquerque, the Silver City Gospel Mission held it's second farmer's market on Tuesday, June 30th.
We were able to hand out more than 12,000 pounds of fresh produce to more than 281 hungry families, including 247 seniors, 358 adults and 376 pretty hungry kids.
Included with this delivery were onions, blackberries, chiles, apples, potatoes, pomegranates, watermelon, cabbages, cherry tomatoes, tomattilos and canned jalepenos.
We had a few onions, cabbage and apples left over which were taken to the Mission where they are being handed out to hungry folks who are signed up for our services.
A huge thanks to everyone for their help and advertising and to Walmart and a few other stores for their very generous donations.
We aren't sure if we will be able to do another farmers market this year, but as always, stay turned to our Facebook page, this newsletter and local media sources for details.
