Washington, DC (February 2, 2016) Congressman Steve Pearce issued the following statement after the House passed H.R. 3662, the Iran Terror Finance Transparency Act:

"Today's vote is yet another bipartisan effort by the House to deter the negative consequences of the President's nuclear deal with Iran. It took decades to create the sanctions, which have been the most effective tool in inhibiting Iran's nuclear aspirations, weapons program development, and support of terrorism worldwide.

"Yet with one shake of the hand, the President agreed to a nuclear deal that destroys all the work our nation's decades of sanctions have accomplished. Under the Iran nuclear deal, many individuals and companies known to be associated with Iranian nuclear ambitions and with known terror organizations will once again be allowed to engage in global business freely. This is unacceptable.

"Today, the House voted to deter this reversal in sanctions. This legislation prohibits the President from lifting sanctions on people and businesses known to have ties to dangerous organizations until such time he can certify to Congress that they no longer take part in questionable business. Passage of this bill is not about party politics or partisanship. It is about the security and safety of our nation and the world." said Congressman Steve Pearce.
