Today Steve Pearce filed his petitions for re-election to Congress in New Mexico's Second Congressional District.
Pearce said, "Day after day, our Federal government demonstrates through action that it no longer serves the people but instead it is looking out for itself and the special interests. I will continue holding Washington accountable to the people of New Mexico. I am proud to have stood up for Veterans against an uncaring VA. I am proud to have defended the property rights of farmers and ranchers from a runaway bureaucracy. I am every day fighting to get our southern New Mexico economy growing again and the deficit under control. As always I will put New Mexico first. I have opposed the Washington Republicans when they have been wrong. And I have opposed the Washington Democrats when they are wrong. With the support of the people of the Second District I will keep doing just that."
Pearce's campaign demonstrated its grassroots strength by filing over 3000 petitions to qualify for the ballot. Only 489 are needed to qualify for the ballot.
Last year, his campaign received contributions from 997 New Mexicans committed to good government. His campaign has one million dollars on hand for his re-election. In 2014, liberal Democrats spent almost $1.5 million to try to defeat Congressman Pearce.
