Muggs Bufkin, 87, of Deming passed away peacefully at her home on Friday January 15, 2016. She was born March 1, 1928 in New London, Waterford, Connecticut to Arthur and Cornelia Grimes.
Muggs dedicated her life to the care of others. She served as an LPN and worked at Mimbres Memorial Nursing Home for 34 years up until the day of her death. She was well loved by those she served and colleagues with whom she worked. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and she was a tremendous example of selfless love to all who knew her.
She is survived by her brother, Prentis Grimes of Connecticut, her niece, Gwen Ann Joseph (Richard), a great niece, a great-great niece (Connecticut), Susan Archer of Connecticut; stepdaughters, Jackie White (Don) Kitty Collyge (Billy Joe), and Cindy Taylor, six grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She will be missed immensely by her "adopted" daughter Dixie Wertz, her seven children and spouses, 22 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Muggs was preceded in death by her parents, her two sisters, Gwendolyn Chapman and Beverly Kelly, her first husband Johnny Johnson and her second husband Robert Selby Bufkin.
A celebration of her life will be held on January 30, 2016 at 10 o'clock in the morning at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1000 W. Florida. An additional memorial service for the nursing home residents and her co-workers will be held at Mimbres Memorial Nursing Home at 4 o'clock in the afternoon that same day, January 30, 2016.
