Obama has decided that Congress won't act in the manner that he wants them to act, so he will use official decrees, aka executive orders, to bypass the authority granted to Congress by the people of this nation to accomplish his goals. Never mind that a vast majority of Americans disagree with his goals, which probably explains why he can't garner support from his own party members in Congress.

But his claim is that he wants to save the children, a tried and true crutch of liberals when they want to infringe upon our rights. So let's look at whether or not he's really saving the children or anyone else for that matter.

Between July 2014 and July 2015 there were at least 195 cases in which gun owners used their legally obtained fire arms to successfully defend themselves from criminals. According to the analysis, done by the Daily Caller Foundation, a surprisingly high percentage of those cases involved children defending themselves and their family members from harm. Here are some of the most amazing cases of self defense.

Vicksburg, MS: A 17 year old girl was home with her mother when an armed man broke into the house, held them at gunpoint, tied them up and began ransacking the home. When the intruder left them alone, the teen was able to get free, ran to another room and got a handgun. She fired at the intruder, who fled the home before doing more harm to the woman and her child.

A 14 year old North Carolina boy protected himself and his grandmother in December of last year. The home they occupied had been broken into 2 times in the previous month; this time the youth and his grandmother were home. The boy grabbed a shotgun, shouted at the individual climbing through the window to stop. When the man did not, the youth pulled the trigger 3 times killing the intruder. The grandmother wondered what would have happened to her had her grandson not been there and been willing to defend her.

An 11 year old Michigan girl was home alone in January of 2015 when 2 intruders smashed through the front door of her family's home. The girl grabbed her shotgun and hid in the bedroom closet. When the intruders opened the closet door, she pointed the gun and them and told them to leave or she'd shoot. The man and woman immediately left without a shot being fired. They were apprehended a short time later.

A Butler County OH youth helped officers nab a burglar. The man had been caught breaking into a home near the youth's residence and had been arrested. After being left unattended by police, the man escaped and broke into the nearby home where the 15 year old was watching television. The man had a knife and threatened the boy, who then grabbed a gun pointing it at the intruder and making it very clear he would pull the trigger if the criminal advanced further. The man left the home only to be caught by police in the front yard. Hostage situation avoided?

In September of last year an 11 year old Oklahoma girl awoke around 4 in the morning after hearing a scream. A man had broken into their home and had stabbed her mother. The girl grabbed a handgun and shot the intruder twice as he was continuing to assault the mother. She not only saved her mother's life but that of herself and her siblings.

Some will say that Obama's new executive orders wouldn't have kept these individuals from owning a gun but is that true? Most of these folks are lower middle class or from poor neighborhoods. Obama said that he wants to make purchasing a gun more expensive, since that's one way of controlling the number of guns in our society. Would these folks have been able to afford a gun under Obama's plan?

How many of these folks might have been denied a gun for other reasons? Under Obama's plan, those with mental disorders can be denied a gun by a judge without the accused person being able to appear before the judge and defend themselves. This can happen if a family member claims domestic violence is present in the home or if a medical professional claims the person suffers from a mental disorder, which is very broadly defined. Given that members of this administration have said that man caused climate change deniers should be considered mentally ill, does that have the potential for denying someone the right to own a gun?

We've heard from this administration's own 'experts' that terrorists look for 'soft targets' when they want to commit heinous acts of violence. So do most criminals. A soft target is defined in part as one where there are no weapons or the likelihood of weapons being present is low. Obama is creating more soft targets with his executive orders and putting more children at risk. Do we really have to point out again that Chicago has the most restrictive gun laws in the nation yet has more gun related deaths than any other large city in America? Probably so.
