Washington, D.C. – U.S. Rep. Steve Pearce issued this statement today following his vote in favor of the North American Energy Security and Infrastructure Act of 2015, H.R. 8, which passed the House -- 249-174.

"The American Energy Renaissance has created thousands of jobs in New Mexico and has made America the top energy producer in the world," said Pearce. "Unfortunately, the critical infrastructure improvements needed to meet increased production have lagged behind due to overly burdensome regulations. This bill, passed today, will expedite these projects to ensure that New Mexicans and Americans have greater access to energy at lower prices. It also takes critical steps to keep our electric grid secure, which will help ensure electric reliability and protect our national security. Additionally, it includes provisions that will allow for the exportation of LNG as well as crude oil. These provisions will work to ensure that the U.S. remains an energy superpower in the future."

  • Strengthens our energy security while supporting our allies abroad.
  • Expedites the approval process of LNG exports, and lifts the destructive 40-year old ban on crude oil exports.
  • Make our energy infrastructure more resilient and creates jobs.
  • Ensures Americans have access to affordable and reliable energy no matter where they live in the U.S.
