Visitation will be held from 4 O'clock to 6 O'clock in the evening, Thursday, June 25, 2015 at Baca's Funeral Chapels in Silver City. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 6 O'clock by Deacon David Castanon. The Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 O'clock in the morning Friday, June 26, 2015 at Infant Jesus Shrine. Concluding services and internment will follow at Hurley Cemetery.
Rick was born May 18, 1949 in Santa Rita, NM to Manuel and Maria (Rodriguez) Provencio. He attended Cobre High School and according to his football coach Ron Darnell, he was regarded as one of the best lineman ever. He was known for his strength and his speed. According to Principal Johnnie Benavidez, Ricky was my protector as I ran as a running back against the opposition. Rick had many talents and was a quick learner. He was a heavy equipment operator and drove big semi trucks. He was a mobile home salesman and had the record of selling 30 homes in 31 days. He was a devote member of the Catholic Church and was a Crursillista, De Colores. He prayed the rosary daily and died wth his rosary wrapped around his neck.
He is survived by his mother Maria Provencio, his son Richard S. Provencio Jr., (Karla), his daughter Alyssa Provencio and step-daughter Kalista Hernandez, his brother Carlos Provencio and sister Velma Provencio, nieces and nephews Liz, Daniel, Miguel and Juan Carlos Provencio, Rose Marie and Diego Lopez, Kailey Ferrales, Adriana Gamboa, Francesca and Camilla Fischer, Julius and Joshua Provencio
He is preceded in death by his father Manuel L. Provencio.
Serving as pallbearers are Richard Provencio Jr., Diego Lopez, Daniel, John and Russ Provencio, Eugene Alcorta, Danny Sierra and Trey Martinez Fischer. Honorary pallbearers are Paul Rodriguez, Louie and Tudy Perez, Henry Alcorta and Victor Holguin.
