He is also working on exchange student agreements between his university and WNMU

Guillermo Eduardo Labastida Blake came from Universidad de Occidente in Los Mochis, Sinaloa, México, for two purposes this week.

"My business here is to have a better understanding of and a relationship with Western New Mexico University and our small university," Lasbastida said. "I am in charge of moving students to exchange programs. I have been in touch with Dr. Magadaleno Manzanares and Dr. Alexandra Neves, since Dr. Manzanares came to our university. We are working together to make sure the terms of the agreement are what we want."

This is Labastida's first official visit to Western, which he noted has almost the same name as his university, which translates to Western University.

"We had some students come to Western last year as part of the 100 students who came from Mexico to attend Western," Labastida said. "It was a great experience for them. We want to promote closer relationships between the two universities."
