Santa Fe, NM – The NM State Parks Division and the NM Department of Game and Fish announce Free Fishing Day in recognition of National Public Lands, Hunting and Fishing Day. As a result, September 26th is a free fishing day in New Mexico. This is a special day when all anglers – residents and nonresidents of all ages – can fish without a license at public waters statewide. All other fishing regulations apply.

"We invite you to join us this Saturday, September 26, 2015 for Free Fishing Day at all 35 New Mexico State Parks and throughout New Mexico's rivers, streams and lakes," said Christy Tafoya, Director of New Mexico State Parks.

"We want to encourage New Mexicans to get out with their families and enjoy their natural resources by celebrating National Public Lands, Hunting and Fishing Day; a free fishing day is a great way to do that," said Alexa Sandoval, New Mexico Game and Fish Department Director.

The Department of Game and Fish and New Mexico State Parks are partnering to provide a day of family fun at all New Mexico State Parks. All state park fees apply, but it's only $5 per vehicle for day use from 6AM-9PM. Walk-in entry to state parks is free.
