The Silver City Town Council at its June 9 meeting approved a resolution to enter into a road fund agreement with the New Mexico Department of Transportation. This agreement would fund chip sealing of certain town streets in the summer of 2016, according to Town Manager Alex Brown, including portions of Alabama, Bartlett, Florida, Georgia, Gordon, Hester, Hill and Howell streets, and also include sections of Kentucky, Louisiana, Luck, Mississippi, State, Short, Virginia, West and 13th streets. The cost of the project will be $72,611, of which the town's share will be 25 percent, or $18,153, plus any costs that exceed $72,611.
