The Board nominated Dona Ana County Commissioner Wayne Hancock to serve as the Board's representative to the NMAC Board of Directors, to report on Pool business. The position has been held for four years by Santa Fe County Commissioner Robert Anaya.

"NMAC congratulates these members and thanks them for their service to the Pool," said Risk Management Director Taylor Horst. "We look forward to continue working with them to provide exceptional service to our Pool members."

At the meeting members reviewed Pool financials as of June 30, 2015. The Workers' Compensation Pool Board of Directors is comprised of 11 voting members and two ex-officio members and meets four times a year to conduct its oversight responsibilities. Board members serve two-year overlapping terms and can be an elected or appointed officer or employee of a member county.

The Workers' Compensation Pool provides comprehensive statutory Workers' Compensation coverage for its 31 member counties. The Pool was formed in 1987 with 22 original members to provide affordable coverage for counties when it was difficult and sometimes impossible for counties to obtain commercial insurance.

The New Mexico Association of Counties is a non-profit, nonpartisan association representing and serving New Mexico's 33 counties. As a professional association of county elected officials and employees, NMAC supports and promotes the idea that all county elected officials and professional county employees should have the opportunity to act together to solve problems and to work for the progress of county governments in New Mexico. NMAC provides numerous programs and services to counties including legislative representation, self-insurance, legal assistance and professional development.
