SILVER CITY, NM; Aug. 14, 2015 – The Gila National Forest has received many questions about the Travel Management Rule (TMR) and when the Rule will go into effect. In an effort to clarify the implementation process, Gila National Forest Supervisor Adam Mendonca would like to offer the following information about the timeline for implementation and what the public can expect.
The Gila National Forest’s Travel Management decision was released in June 2014 and the decision was upheld by Southwestern Deputy Regional Forester Gilbert Zepeda Sept. 2014. The decision will be implemented upon publication of the motor vehicle use map (MVUM). The MVUM is the legal document displaying the roads, trails, and areas open to motor vehicle use on the Forest.
